Synopsis
Sounds like expert guidance from a PhD or self-help guru, right? Think again. Nine-year-old Alec Greven turns the tables on matters of the heart with his unique advice on how to talk to girls.
Based on his sharp observations from recess and class, and his own personal experience, Alec offers tips on everything from overcoming shyness to getting a girl to like you back.
Whether you are experiencing your first crush or your fiftieth, Alec will set you straight, no matter how lucky- or unlucky-in love you are.
You'll never look at boys and girls (or men and women) quite the same way again!

Review
By eight years of age Alec Greven held an understanding of the female species that some men fail to achieved during an entire lifetime.
How to Talk to Girls is a quirky, light-hearted, easy read offering sound advice for boys who may be feeling nervous and/or awkward around girls.
My only criticism is the focus on getting the reader to change and not giving him permission to be himself. However, I love Alec's positive attitude towards knock-backs: "Life is hard, move on!".
Filled with cute illustrations, How to Talk to Girls will appeal to a variety of audience: from boys needing reassurance and acknowledgement that girls ARE different but that it is all okay, to girls needing external confirmation that it IS true when adults say that when a boy teases her he must like her. Older readers will appreciate the humour and sentiments of Alec's observations.
